It took 10 months, but we got there! In September we received the final data needed to produce A Snapshot of Life for Aboriginal Children & Young People in Bourke. The Snapshot will be used by the Bourke community to learn, talk, think and set goals about what needs to change so that all Aboriginal children and young people in Bourke can have better lives. In October, we provided training for government and non-government employees in Bourke on hosting community conversations on this data, and these conversations are currently talking place across the community. The next step will be supplementing the data with the wisdom and insight captured during these conversations in a report to be presented to the Bourke Tribal Council in December. The Council will use this report to develop an action plan including community goals, report card indicators and interventions required to achieve their goals. In February 2016, KPMG will begin economic modeling to develop a business plan to take to Government.
