Amnesty International Secretary General Salil Shetty says the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in prisons is a human rights issue that can be addressed effectively through Indigenous-led solutions and a justice reinvestment approach. This 10 December, Human Rights Day, Salil Shetty is throwing his support behind Indigenous-led justice reinvestment initiatives by becoming a Champion of the country’s foremost Justice Reinvestment coalition, Just Reinvest NSW. Mr Shetty joins a growing list of Just Reinvest NSW Champions and Supporters calling for justice reinvestment as a solution to soaring rates of Indigenous incarceration in our country.
